  • There are many patterns on the Project Linus National Headquarters site, including instructions on how to make a blanket that does not involve sewing, knitting or crocheting!  This is our preferred pattern for knotted fleece blankets; the double layer knotted fleece blankets are too heavy and hot for sick children.
  • Here is a tutorial for making a single layer fleece blanket with a braided edge – no sew!
  • If you are a quilter, here’s how to do a surgeon’s knot for hand tying pieced quilts from Ginger Peebles
  • Here is a video showing 2 methods of creating a no-sew fleece blanket.
  • There is a pattern for knitting a square baby blanket here on this site.
  • If you are interested in knitting preemie/infant hats, we highly recommend using the sizing chart over at Bev’s Country Cottage.  Rib hats work best because they stretch and can grow a little with the baby.
  • If you like crochet but don’t have time to crochet an entire blanket, consider purchasing fleece and crocheting an edge around it.  To punch holes in fleece (which allows you to crochet into the fleece) you may choose between two tools: the Skip-Stitch blade and the EdgeryDoo.  Here is an excellent video showing you how to use the Skip-Stitch blade and start your crochet foundation. Here are some links that contain patterns for edges:
    • EdgeryDoo patterns
    • This page contains a nice pattern for a scalloped edge
    • This page has some elegant edges and some fun ones, too!
    • This page has tons of edges! Be sure to select one that is infant/child/teen appropriate
